The annual New Years Eve ‘paddle pass’ in a figure of eight around the Batemans Bay harbor took place in misty, damp weather. We left Korner’s Park and headed under the bridge into Clyde River, round Budd Island and back down the Clyde on the northern bank and under the bridge. The misty conditions turned into rain and Jim Nancy and Mary (in a canoe) decided as it wasn’t particularly pleasant, we would head for the cars.
Ian, Lin, Sharon and Rodney undeterred by the rain, paddled across the harbor to complete the figure of eight returning to the picnic area at the park for supper where we were joined by Susan, who had bravely walked across the bridge in the rain into town to purchase fish and chips for Max and herself, and Gillian, who brought the food for Rodney and herself. In spite of the weather, our spirits were not dampened as we shared goodies, with a side dish of laughter and fun as we ate our food.
