Pebbly Beach – South Coast Track – Return

On a perfect spring morning, eleven bushwalkers headed off from Pebbly Beach. After a short sand and creek crossing, we began a climb up through Murramarang National Park.
Scenic ocean views, recovered mountain forest and distant headlands made for a stunning walk. The track was muddy and a little slippery in places but the numerous beautifully laid steps and short sections of board walk, allowed easy walking and plenty of places to stop and admire the beyond blue sea.

After a morning tea break on an easily accessible rocky cove, we continued on to Snake Bay. Due to some very efficient walk and chat, we arrived there at 10.30 am, too early for lunch!! The group cheerfully agreed to continue on the path towards Pretty Beach, wandering past Spotted Gum, some very healthy gullies of Cabbage Tree Palm and open views with rock platforms below. Heather, with an eagle eye, made our one and only whale sighting off in the distance performing for a gathered audience.

Time to retrace our steps, lunch at Snake Bay was very pleasant and not a snake in sight. Steve braved the water for a quick swim, then it was back to those steps and specular views south towards Depot Beach as we headed back to the cars.

A very enjoyable day out.
