Seventeen walkers including two visitors, Rob and Louise, enjoyed a glorious spring morning in the forests around Pedro Point and Pedro Swamp.
The walk was 8km and began with 2km of beach walking heading south from the point towards Congo. The waves were rough, but the beach was sparkling. Sooty Oyster Catchers and Australasian Cormorants were all the living beings that we encountered on the walk.
We headed inland through some casuarina forest and after crossing Pedro Point Rd, we entered the banksia forests that line the Congo Creek. We skirted a rural property and then came back to the road. We headed north on the road for 1km and then turned west again into the spotted gum forest. Good views were had of Pedro Swamp.
We returned to the cars via some off track walking and some of the group enjoyed a sandwich on Pedro Point looking out for whales.
All in all, a lovely walk with great company.
