On a perfect day for a beach and coastal headland walk, 16 walkers set out towards North Beach from the Bawley Point picnic area. The first challenge was finding a shallow enough spot across the outflow channel from Willinga Lake. Shoes and socks came off and most walkers then kept them off to walk along the shoreline on North Beach. At the end of the beach shoes and socks were back on for the inland walk along the headland to Nuggan Point.

Two surfers were seen enjoying the waves while most of us sat on the grass for morning tea. Steve and Rob explored the rock platform below. Following morning tea, we walked towards Meroo lake enjoying the forest, bush and each others’ company, all an important part of our twice weekly club activities. The overgrown bush with branches strewn along and on the track had us concentrating on our feet as we made our way to the end of the track at Meroo Lake.

After admiring the blue and green water of the ocean, in contrast to the browner water of the lake, it was time to head back along the same track. Due to the usual track being water logged, our leader James had found a new track that wound its way down a rocky hill, around a small pond and eventually back onto North Beach for the return beach walk and another wade across the channel.
